In season 4 Prince of Wales (Josh O'Connor) becomes engaged to and marries Lady Diana Spencer.
We see flashes of their courtship, but it becomes increasingly clear that Diana is struggling with her place in the House of Windsor.
A desperate Princess Diana tells The Queen:
"All I want is to be loved that's all any of us want from you."
However, the gulf between Charles and Diana only continues to widen as he remains in love with Camilla Parker Bowles (Emerald Fennell), who he was forced away from by his family in the previous season.
