The Lord Mayor Of Dublin joined Weekend Breakfast for a chat.
She is the first Irish-born person of Chinese descent elected to political office in Ireland.
When asked about her appointment she said:
Alison, This role is a massive honour. I think of Kamala Harris who said her Mother would often say to her you can be the first, but you cannot be the last.
Hazel was elected Lord Mayor in June 2020 and as she says herself it may have been a historic appointment but taking Office in the midst of a pandemic created it's own unique challenges.
She has been vocal about her Inclusion & Diversity challenging Discrimination, Sustainability and the Environment and spearheading a Homelessness Taskforce.
