The HSE is due to launch its COVID-19 contact tracing app before the end of this month.
The app will use Bluetooth technology to help identify close contacts of confirmed cases.
Although there have been privacy concerns, user data will not be stored by government departments or health agencies, unlike in some other countries.
But who should use it, and will it be effective?
