The government is being urged to introduce a number of environmental taxes in next week's budget.
Among these is the introduction of a tax on flights to tackle the problem of climate change.
Eamon Murphy, Economic and Social Analyst with Social Justice Ireland, says the group is proposing a "small commercial airline tax" for each passenger leaving Irish airports, "to ensure that the cost of air travel reflects the overall cost to society".
He says these taxes should start at a low level and increase over time.
