Obesity is a physical state where excess body fat leads to an increased risk of developing illness.
During the pandemic, doctors have seen an increase in patients presenting with Normal Weight Obesity, which is characterised by a reduction in muscle mass and an increase in body fat without a marked increase in overall body weight.
These people may have a normal BMI, but there has often been a reduction in exercise.
Dr Brian Higgins, GP at Galway Primary Care, joined us for our weekly health slot with more information about the signs of Normal Weight Obesity and what to do about it.
