Laura Whitmore has denied claims that she was trying to recruit for the British Army, as her appearance on a podcast sparked a social media backlash.
The TV presenter took to Instagram to promote the first episode of a British Army podcast, in which she spoke to a female soldier about issues like body positivity and being part of a male-dominated industry.
She followed this up with a tweet paying tribute to the late John Hume.
Whitmore was branded "stupid" and "not Irish" for her involvement in the podcast, with one social media user suggesting that she should be stripped of her Irish citizenship for treason.
