Jo Brand has apologised for comments she made on a radio comedy programme about throwing acid at politicians.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Heresy, Brand stated that she was not impressed by throwing milkshakes at politicians and joked: "Why bother with a milkshake when you could get some battery acid?"
The joke did not go down well with Nigel Farage, who was himself the target of a thrown milkshake while campaigning during the European elections.
Farage accused Brand of inciting violence and urged the police to take action. Brand has since apologised for her comments.
Was the joke inappropriate, or an acceptable one to make on a comedy show?
Helen Vaughan, Karl Deeter and Dee Reddy discussed this and some of the other stories making the news in The Week Trending.
