Dog lovers are being warned not to buy puppies at inflated prices, as the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge in demand as well as an increase in dog thefts.
Ireland's largest dog charity, Dogs Trust, says that puppies are being sold by unscrupulous breeders who have little regard for their welfare.
Dog thefts are also on the rise as a result of the high demand, with Gardaí warning owners to take care if they have high-value dogs.
