A San Francisco judge has blocked Donald Trump's policy of returning asylum seekers to Mexico as they wait for an immigration court to hear their cases.
Judge Richard Seeborg says the policy lacks sufficient protections to ensure migrants don't face "undue risk to their lives or freedom" in Mexico.
However, the Trump administration insists the policy is in response to a crisis that has overwhelmed the ability of immigration officials to detain migrants at the southern border.
