Eugene McGee, a regular contributor to The Last Word on the subject of GAA, sadly passed away over the weekend.
He was best known to GAA followers as manager of the Offaly team who won the 1982 All-Ireland senior football title, which stopped Kerry winning five in a row.
He was also instrumental in the introduction of the black card into Gaelic football, and was a prominent journalist.
In 2014 he published his autobiography, The GAA in My Time, which detailed his years of involvement with the sport.
He spoke about the book in a Friday profile interview for The Last Word at the time, and in tribute to him, you can listen back to the interview in full here.
