Zoe Holohan and her husband Brian had been married just four days and were on their honeymoon in Greece when Brian was tragically killed in the July 2018 wildfires.
Zoe survived but suffered severe burns all over her face and body. Her legs were so badly injured that it was unclear whether she would ever walk again.
Three weeks after Brian's death, Zoe's father also died suddenly from a heart attack. After her return to Ireland, she developed a rare condition called toxic epidermal necrolysis, which affects one in a million people each year.
Zoe joined us on The Last Word to talk about her book, As the Smoke Clears, in which she shares her deeply personal journey through a life-altering year.
