According to a report in The Irish Times, the southside section of the MetroLink rail line in Dublin will be abandoned due to the disruption it would cause to the Luas Green line.
The decision has been made following intense lobbying by residents.
The MetroLink will now only go as far as Charlemont Street, rather than continuing on to Sandyford as originally planned.
We spoke to Jim O'Callaghan, Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin Bay South, and Green Party leader Éamon Ryan, both of whom represent the area affected.
They discussed the decision and what is needed in Dublin in terms of public transport.
