Actor Luke Perry died this week aged just 52, after suffering a stroke.
Many of us assume that strokes primarily affect older people, but they can in fact occur at any age, with approximately 15% of strokes occurring in young adults.
Around 10,000 people in Ireland suffer from strokes every year, with roughly 2,000 of these cases fatal.
The quicker a stroke patient gets to hospital, the more likely it is that treatment can reverse symptoms.
