SUVs have become very popular in recent years, with their worldwide market share more than doubling to 39% between 2010 and 2018.
According to environmental journalist John Gibbons, SUVs contribute over 700 million tons of emissions a year globally.
This is more than the yearly total emissions of Britain and the Netherlands combined, and almost as much as the pollution from the entire global aviation industry.
So should SUVs be banned?
John was joined by motoring journalist Michael Sheridan for The Last Word on Wheels to debate this.
