There have been calls to allow all essential workers and those who need a licence for work purposes to sit their driving test in order to relieve the backlog.
There are currently over 98,000 people waiting for a driving test, while around 50,000 are waiting to sit their theory test.

To discuss this we were joined by Darragh Dunne, Branch Secretary with Unite Driving Instructors Union, and motoring journalist Michael Sheridan.
