The singer Ryan Adams is facing allegations of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse from multiple women.
According to a report in The New York Times, seven women and more than a dozen associates described a pattern of manipulative behaviour "in which Adams dangled career opportunities while simultaneously pursuing female artists for sex."
His ex-wife Mandy Moore has claimed that he was psychologically abusive during their six-year marriage, while another allegation concerns a 14-year-old fan with whom Adams began corresponding in 2013, sharing sexually explicit texts and video calls.
Adams has denied engaging in "inappropriate online interactions with someone he knew was underage" and described the report as "upsettingly inaccurate."
As someone who has always tried to spread joy through my music and my life, hearing that some people believe I caused them pain saddens me greatly. I am resolved to work to be the best man I can be. And I wish everyone compassion, understanding and healing.
