Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani has allegedly had discussions with the president about the possibility of receiving a pre-emptive pardon before he leaves office.
As Giuliani has not been convicted of any federal crime, his reasons for seeking a pardon are unclear.
However, he was previously under investigation by federal prosecutors for his business dealings in Ukraine and his role in ousting the American ambassador there.
