WhatsApp users are being warned to update their app to the latest version following a hack.
A number of users are known to have been targeted by the attack, which uses the call function to install spyware.
Even if the user does not answer the call, their phone will still be infected. The spyware can then be used to read messages and emails, and even activate the phone's camera.
Andy O'Donoghue joined us for Tech Tuesday to tell us more about the hack and how users can protect themselves, as well as discuss how other apps could potentially be vulnerable to similar attacks.
Here's how you can update WhatsApp, whether you're an Android or iOS user:
You should update your WhatsApp immediately:
Android:
Open the Play Store
Tap Menu (top left)-> My apps & games
Tap UPDATE besides the #WhatsApp icon
iPhone/iOS:
Open the App Store
Tap Updates
Tap UPDATE beside the WhatsApp icon
