NUI Galway met with Gardaí and Galway City Council after footage was shared on social media showing large crowds of students gathered in the city last night.
Gardaí also responded to multiple reports of house parties taking place in Galway at the same time, while in Cork, 70% of new COVID-19 cases have been linked to pubs and restaurants.
Journalist Paddy Murray, who has COPD, is frightened that the lives of people with chronic illnesses are being put at risk by the reckless behaviour of others.
