Back pain is something 80% of us will experience at some point in our lives, and is one of the most common reasons for people seeing their doctor.
Since lockdown, there has been a significant increase in the frequency of back pain-related GP visits.
This is likely due to a reduction in physical activity and poor ergonomics from remote working.
Back pain can be either acute (of sudden onset) or chronic (lasting weeks or months).
Dr Brian Higgins, GP at Galway Primary Care, joined us for The Last Word on Health to discuss the types and causes of back pain and the treatments available.
