The fifth series of Love Island began on ITV2 on Monday night.
The show will air every night at 9pm through to Friday, and on Sundays, for the next few weeks.
Despite recent controversies, such as questions over duty of care following the death of former contestant Mike Thalassitis, Love Island remains extremely popular with viewers.
But what is it that makes it so appealing, especially when compared with other reality shows?
