Today is Safer Internet Day, an EU-wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, particularly young people.
An annual online safety survey has found that social media use by underage children has surged during lockdown.
Around 82% of eight to 12-year-olds have accounts on social media sites that are supposed to be restricted to users over the age of 13.
Nearly one in three children are able to go online at home whenever they want, while 89% of eight-year-olds now have their own smartphone or tablet.
Andy O'Donoghue joined us for Tech Tuesday to discuss these findings, as well as the best ways for parents to make sure their child is safe online.
