Dublin Airport is set to undergo an expansion, which will include the construction of a second runway costing €320 million.
But is it a sign that too much of our economic development is focused on the capital?
In our Monday debate we discussed whether Dublin Airport really needs a new runway, or a new terminal, and looked at the effect its expansion would have on noise pollution, local traffic congestion and the environment.
We also asked whether we should be thinking about expanding Cork and Shannon airports instead.
Our guests were Paul O'Kane, Chief Communications Officer of the DAA, Frank McDonald, author and former environment editor of The Irish Times, Graeme McQueen, Head of Communications with Dublin Chamber, Alan Farrell, Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, and Dee Ryan, Chief Executive of Limerick Chamber.
