A mandatory hotel quarantining system will be introduced for all incoming passengers, including Irish citizens, from 20 high-risk countries.
The new legislation signed off on by the Cabinet today sets out a financial penalty of €4,000, as well as a possible month in prison, for first-time offenders who do not adhere to the rules.
