The Government has agreed a €5.2 billion stimulus package to boost economic recovery and get people back to work.
It includes a Stay and Spend tax rebate worth up to €125 per person to assist the tourism sector in the off-season, based on a spend of €625. This will apply to hotels, food and non-alcoholic drinks.
We were joined by Simon Harris, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, to discuss some of the details of the package.
John Moran, chair of SME Recovery Ireland, and Patricia Callan, director of Drinks Ireland, also joined us to give their thoughts on whether it will be enough to save jobs and rescue the economy.
