Transport Minister Eamon Ryan has said variable speed limits on the M50 will be introduced at times of high congestion, when driving conditions are dangerous and when there have been incidents on the motorway.
It was reported yesterday that the new speed limits will be as low as 40 km/h on certain parts of the M50 to assist in avoiding tailbacks by creating a better flow of traffic through the entire system.
Is it a good idea?
Motoring journalist Michael Sheridan and Barry Aldworth, Senior Media Officer at AA Ireland, joined us to discuss this.
