As a result of the pandemic, this year's Shine A Light Night will see people sleep out in their gardens and other safe and private places. Focus Ireland's fundraising target for 2020 is €1.3 million.
Focus Ireland, with the support of Bord Gáis, are organising their ninth annual Shine A Light Night fundraising campaign on Friday 16 October to help end homelessness in Ireland.
There are currently 9,335 homeless people in Ireland, 3,073 of whom are children.
Pat Dennigan, CEO of Focus Ireland, joined us on The Last Word with more information on the campaign and how the organisation will be helping the homeless through a difficult winter.
