It's been ten years since Roddy Doyle and Sean Love set up Fighting Words, a creative writing centre for young people in Ireland.
What began in Dublin has since spread countrywide, and in the past decade over 110,000 children and teenagers have become involved and developed their love of writing.
Sean joined us to explain what the project is all about: "Fighting Words was set up to provide an opportunity for children and young people all over the country to engage with creative writing."
"We thought it was a bit weird that it didn't really feature in the formal curriculum."
We were also joined by two participants, 15-year-old Jack Davis from Donabate Community College and 18-year-old Kerry O'Sullivan from Dominican College in Dublin.
Kerry agrees that there is not enough focus on creative writing in schools.
"There's such a focus in school on maths and science, but I think art and literature are the pillars of what we are today."
She says being involved with Fighting Words provides validation: "It's so heartwarming to have people respond to your work."
