With non-essential overseas travel off the cards for the foreseeable future, many Irish people will be looking to enjoy a holiday closer to home this summer.
But it seems that some families are being charged as much as €8,000 for a week-long staycation.
Niamh Smyth, Fianna Fáil TD and spokesperson on Arts and Heritage, has received reports of some online search engines charging extortionate prices.
She is calling on the self-catering industry, hotels, B&Bs and booking engines to set a fair price and "not price Irish families out of holidaying at home this summer".
She joined us on The Last Word to discuss the issue further.
