The EU today announced that it will open its borders to travellers from 14 countries, but the United States did not make the list due to the rising number of coronavirus cases.
A quarter of the world's cases are in the US, with almost 2.6 million confirmed infections and over 126,000 deaths, according to data from John Hopkins University.
Last week saw 40,000 cases confirmed in a single day, and Dr Anthony Fauci has warned that cases could reach 100,000 a day.
