The Sunday Independent has terminated columnist Eoghan Harris's contract after it emerged that he was involved in the running of a fake Twitter account.
Harris confirmed using an account under the name Barbara J Pym, which the paper's editor described as "a betrayal of trust".
Twitter has since suspended a further eight accounts suspected of being connected to the Barbara J Pym account.
