Don McLean has revealed in a new interview that he is not a fan of most modern music.
The singer feels that a lot of today's music "lacks substance" and "doesn't mean anything", even going as far as saying that its repetitiveness "makes you want to hang yourself".
He added: "The music reflects the spiritual nature of the society. We have a kind of a nihilistic society now. No one believes in anything, no one likes anything, no one has any respect for anything much. The music shows that."
Dee Reddy and Paddy Cullivan joined us for our weekly music slot to debate this and give their thoughts on the most played songs of the decade, as well as looking back at the career of John Prine, who died of COVID-19 complications last week.
