David Cullinane, Sinn Féin TD for Waterford, has defended shouting, "Up the 'Ra" during a speech to supporters.
The comments were made following his success in the general election, in which he received 20,569 first-preference votes. The speech was filmed on a camera phone and the footage has been circulating on social media.
Speaking on The Last Word, David Cullinane said he has never distanced himself from Sinn Féin's or the IRA's past and that he would not deny his republicanism, but admitted that "a lot of what the IRA did was wrong".
