A mixed race couple featured in a Lidl ad campaign have spoken of the racist abuse they have received online.
Fiona Ryan and Jon Mathis appear with their 22-month-old son in the supermarket's 'The Big Save' campaign on TV and billboards.
They now say they are considering leaving Ireland after racially abusive tweets were brought to their attention.
Fiona told The Last Word: "I was completely shocked that someone could look at a family like ours and just see hatred."
Jon, who was born in Brazil and grew up in England, added that he has experienced racism all his life, but that this is the first such incident in Ireland.
"I always viewed Ireland as a country that had less of it than most countries, because the Irish people were subject to racism for years and years."
We were also joined on the programme by Shane O'Curry, director of the European Network Against Racism Ireland, who discussed the prevalence of racism in Ireland and why there needs to be better legal protection for people who experience it.
