Child victims in homicide cases can now be named publicly, as a new law takes effect from today.
Grieving parents whose children were killed in violent crimes had been prevented from speaking publicly about them, but an amendment to the Children's Act has resulted in this ban being lifted.
Kathleen Chada, whose sons Eoghan and Ruairi were murdered by their father in 2013, joined us to talk about the difference this amendment will make to parents in her position.
We were also joined by Conor Hanly, lecturer in law at NUI Galway.
