A new group says women's voices are not being heard when it comes to critical public health issues.
The Covid Women's Voices group consists of healthcare workers, teachers, academics, lawyers and others.
They have issued an open letter calling for the provision of free childcare for healthcare workers during Level 5 restrictions and in-person schooling for a select group of essential workers, including the predominantly female teaching cohort.
Dr Hilary McLoughlin is a member of the group and a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Portiuncula Hospital.
She joined us on The Last Word to discuss the pressure on women who are trying to balance working on the frontline with childcare and homeschooling.
