Irish Rail has apologised after a photo was shared online showing a crowded train carriage which made social distancing impossible.
The photo was posted on Twitter by former Miss Ireland and Dancing With The Stars contestant Holly Carpenter, who was travelling by train from Galway to Dublin.
It shows a group of young people sitting on the floor of the carriage with no distance between them. Some were not wearing masks, despite it being mandatory to do so.
50% of the seats are marked off so that people can socially distance - yet every carriage corridor looks like this. Impossible to get to the toilet without being on top of one & other. I don’t mean to sound negative - but this is not right @IrishRail @MichealMartinTD pic.twitter.com/hGhP43Fj5l

Holly joined us to talk about her experience, and we were also joined by Mark Gleeson of Rail Users Ireland to discuss the problem further.
