Aaron Brady has been found guilty of the capital murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe.
The 29-year-old from Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh was convicted of taking part in an armed robbery which resulted in the fatal shooting of Detective Donohoe in 2013.
The jury heard that Brady had boasted to a New York barman on three separate occasions about shooting a Garda back in Ireland.
A sentence hearing will be held in October.
