It was a stormy night in Connemara and Garda Eric Carney was heading towards Clifden to begin nightshift, when he passed a car pulled in, with its hazard lights on.
He stopped to check if everything was okay and there he found Peter Gannon and his wife Kelly, who was in labour.
After making a few calls, they were told the nearest ambulance was 50 minutes away and unfortunately, nature wasn't going to wait that long. They had to move quickly before safely delivering baby Cara.
Garda Carney joined Ian on the phone this morning to tell him about the night, which he'll never forget.
