A lot of people are struggling with boredom at the moment but one man decided to put his time and energy to good use (whilst adhering to government social distancing rules of course)!

Mayo hurler and second year medical student, Cathal Freeman, set himself a bit of a challenge to raise money for frontline workers and the Irish Cancer Society.

Cathal decided he was going to run a marathon but of course, he had to stay within 2km of his house.

So, he ran 26 miles or 42 kilometers in his back garden which worked out 1400 circuits of his garden. Are you dizzy yet?!

He set off at 11am yesterday morning and had completed his task by 7pm.

We’re tired just thinking about it!

But, it was all for a good cause and Cathal smashed his initial target of €20,000.

In fact, he has raised almost €52,000 and counting, which is simply incredible!

Cathal joined Ian on the line this morning, you can listen back to the chat with him by clicking play now!
