"My mum loved my dad's uachtar reoite"
He's the chart-topping, festival-headlining, grammy-earning, social-media-slaying Scotsman who has taken the world of music by whimsical storm. We really are getting used to him being someone we love.
Ian Dempsey sat down with the humble singer ahead of his recent Olympia Theatre gig to chat about the 23-year-olds meteoric rise over the past 12 months.
Here he is warming up before the Olympia with Iano's favourite song of his (20 million streams on Spotify in 1 week btw):
Before You Go in sound check for performing it for the first time last night! has only been out for 2 days and it’s already 1⃣ in the iTunes chart 1⃣ on the Spotify chart but only 2⃣ on Apple Music so I’m a complete failure ♂ what do ya all think of it so far? X pic.twitter.com/MeFU11a3Z3

And with the brilliance Lewis possesses - of course he's got a lot of Irish in him.
When asked if he was connected in any way connected to musician Jim Capaldi, Lewis revealed a gas story about his Irish descent involving Donegal, ice-cream and Italians.
The lads also chat about how his song of the year, 'Someone You Loved' came about, which included asking himself; "have I got anything else in the locker to finish this album off (Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent)". Then the magic happened;
I was just sitting at my piano in my house, my mum and dad's house, and I kinda came up with the verse, the chorus and the chorus melodies and remember going "that's fine"
"Fine" might be a small bit of an understatement there Lewy!
SOMEONE YOU LOVED IS THE NUMBER ONE SONG IN THE USA!!!

He's having some Grammy doubts too saying; "I don't think I'm gonna win it and I don't think I deserve to win it".
We wouldn't be one bit surprised if he wins it, and wins hundreds more awards throughout his career. The man is a genius!
