Onion O'Brien and the rest of the Five O's are back, and they have a mystery to solve.
"The Accidental Adventures of Onion O'Brien - The Head of Ned Belly" is out now and Jason Byrne joined Ian in studio this morning to tell him what the Five O's are up to now.
The Head of Ned Belly is the second book in Jason's series, and is illustrated by Oisin McGann. In this installment, the gang are in trouble again - this time they're trying to stop the destruction of the valley, where they like to hang out. Along the way, they have to deal with a suspicious teacher, the discovery of the head of Ned Belly, and a local legend who claims he has hidden treasure.
Had an amazing time @solsticearts with the very talented @OisinMcGann trying to sketch what I was saying to 350 kids @MeathLibrary book festival about my book, great kids, great fun @Gill_Books #theheadofnedbelly pic.twitter.com/eyf1TSOd4p

The head of Ned Belly was partly inspired by school trips to see Oliver Plukett's head - a trip both Ian and Jason did in their school days. While comparing childhood stories, Jason mentioned falling of a swing a few times and Ian made the (entirely credible) claim that he could do a full 360° spin over the bar on a swing. Jason will be fact checking that one with NASA...
