The show is already being talked about for awards in the coming year
Helen Behan is a part-time nurse - part-time actor and full-time Today FM fan who we (The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show) last spoke with in 2015.
She told us the story about meeting award-winning filmmaker Shane Meadows in her local pub whilst he was on holidays back in 2011, asking him straight up what's the chance of being in his show - This is England, landing a role in it!
Fast forward to 2019 and Helen has been cast as the main female lead in Meadows' new drama The Virtues, which airs tomorrow night (Wednesday 15th May) @9pm on Channel 4.
The Virtue is described as:
a visceral and bold new drama exploring the themes of repressed memory, apocalyptic revenge and the hope of redemption
It also stars Stephen "he's-so-hot-right-now" Graham (Line of Duty) alongside a host of Irish acting talent like Niamh Algar and Evan Hamilton.
Have a look:
Iano caught up with Helen (again) to learn more about her journey and find out why we need to watch the new four-part series.
Behan tells us, "it's unlike any other television" and cannot praise Shane enough for his work.
"It was either nursing of Hollywood", she laughs but admits that, "this is where my heart is now".
Thanks so much for that interview @IanDempsey real pleasure talking to you and thanks for the support re #TheVirtues @Channel4 Wednesday 15th 9pm one more sleep 🙌🙌🙌
