She's Once, Twice, Three Times an Aisling
Over the past two years, authors Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen have brought us on a magical journey via their creation 'Aisling' - the character who has captured the hearts and imagination of Ireland and is one of the best observations we've come across in a long, long time.
What started off as a closed Facebook group back in 2008 has matured into a trio of books, with the first two in the series (Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling and The Importance of Being Aisling:Country Roads Take Me Home) having sold over 254,000 copies to date, making them the bestselling Irish-published fiction titles of the 21st century.
When we were first introduced to Aisling she was your stereotypical country gal trying to pave her way in Dublin city. Back then, she was hoping to get a ring on her finger from long-term lover John and had a '30 Things To Do Before 30' list.
Fast forward to now and things are much more different for our everyday heroine. In the third instalment, Once, Twice, Three Times an Aisling, she has taken on a bit too much.
A normally super organised Aisling finds herself bogged down as she tries to juggle working in her café, Ballygobrunch, organising her best friend Majella’s overseas hen party, stressing about the looming 'Big 3-0' and a fling with James.
Emer & Sarah chat to The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show about their latest masterpiece and give us an update on the screenplay they expect to be in production next year.
The Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling film rights have been picked up by oscar-nominated Irish production company Element Pictures (Room, The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer etc.).]
Iano also suggests a OMGWACA musical - an idea both ladies are very open to.
Once, Twice, Three Times an Aisling is out in bookstores (and everywhere else) NOW!
