A staff member in UCC has come up with a genius idea to sell some of the university’s social history and past students have been quick to snap them up.
JP Quinn saw an opportunity when the Old College Bar on the UCC Campus closed it's doors in 2018/2019 due to declining business.
On a visit to the construction site on what was formerly the Old College Bar, JP spotted a loose piece of tiling that he decided to pocket for himself as a souvenir for all the time he spent in the bar as a student where acts such as Rory Gallagher and Cranberries performed.
From this grew the idea to gather more of the Old Bar floor, frame it and sell it to alumni who wanted their own piece and JP has been inundated with people wanting to get in on the action. He's had emails from Singapore to Germany.
