We are raising much needed funds for The Irish Cancer Society this week with Wear to Care.
One man is taking part for a very special reason.
John Carter in Gorey got in touch with Mairead Ronan because of a competition winner on the show earlier this week.
Nessa White from Gorey won a fridge freezer during an Expert Electrical competition, and just before the comp, Mairead played Beautiful Day by U2
That was Nessa’s late friends favourite song – and she was texting friends about it when she entered the comp
Nessa’s late friend is Janice Carter – John’s wife.
He heard it all play out on air yesterday and couldn’t believe it, he says he believes that it was ‘definitely a sign from Jan.’
Jan died in September 2019 from cancer after battling it for 9 months.
The last thing she said to him was to ask to bring their two daughters to Australia to see her brother – so that’s where they spent Christmas last year.
This will be their first Christmas at home this year without her. Laura is 22 and Robin is 14.
John says the support of the Irish Cancer Society was amazing and he has himself and his dog dressed up – and has roped in family and friends here and abroad, to take part and donate to Wear To Care for the Irish Cancer Society.
