There are so many amazing Irish gifts available this Christmas, and one in particular really is the gift that keeps on giving. Neil McCabe joined Mairead on the show to tell her how the idea began.
Neil along with his two friends and fellow firefighters and paramedics, Stephen O’Reilly and Damian Bligh, are all lovers of the great outdoors and are on a mission to revive our wild forests so they started Grown Forest.
They're buying sweeps of land around the country where they can plant trees as a way of re-wilding Ireland through these legally protected forests. They have planted 9,000 trees so far and have another 40,000 planned over the next year!
They are asking people to gift a native Irish tree, either for yourself or for someone else, and they begin at just €25. With that a tree will be planted in your name, and you'll get a card with information on the tree and where it's been planted.
