There are around 100,000 people working around the clock in Ireland to keep us safe. RTÉ filmed a selection of these people around the country over a 24 hour period to create 'One Day: Keeping Ireland Safe'.
Two of the people selected for the documentary are Frank Deegan, a survivalist, and self-defence expert Aidan Carroll, and they joined Mairead in studio today to chat about what they do.
Frank got started with survivalism through what he learnt in the merchant navy, and that grew into the groups of 80-1oo people who go camping every weekend. But Frank doesn't waste any time with a tent - just a tarp and hammock and he's ready to go!
Frank is totally prepared if there was a national emergency tomorrow, he can hunt and prepare and store food, and he can sort out shelter in no time.
Aidan is a self-defence expert who has been in the business for 20. He trains a variety of people, from government officials, to bodyguards, to civilians.
Aidan teaches people valuable skills and uses scenario-based training so anyone is able to protect themselves if they find themselves in a dangerous situation.
