We’ve some good news! Despite everything feeling like it’s going to pot, the students of Athlone Community College have something really cool to look forward to and their Science teacher Laura Donnellan joined Mairead on the show to tell her all about it.
Last December the students sent off an application to Amateur Radio and the International Space Station for the opportunity to talk live to an astronaut, and they got the call to say they have been picked and will connect with the ISS in December.
From schools all around the world, they are the only one in Ireland to be chosen and will be given a window of 6-15 minutes when the Space Station is within range to ask their questions. We look forward to checking in with them to see how they got on!
