2 weeks ago, actor Paul Mescal was photographed in London wearing his O’Neills GAA shorts while out picking up a few bits in the shop. Since the shows popularity, Paul, who now lives in London, has been followed by paps everywhere he goes so when the photos of him in his shorts went viral, the searches online for O’Neills sportswear went through the roof!
It didn't come as too much of a surprise when high-end fashion lines like Gucci started coming out with shorts that look very like Mayo GAA shorts. Cormac Farrell is Marketing Manager with O’Neills (who also supply our fabulous Howya Hoodies) and he joined Mairead on the show today.
O'Neills have seen a spike in sales since Normal People aired, but he did say that it was interesting to find out what people will pay for shorts - Gucci are charging €555 which is a long way off the €25 you'd pay for a pair of Mayo GAA shorts!
